40 Days of Prayer for Divine Direction

20 January – 28 February 2026

What is it all about?
The purpose of this initiative is to dedicate our ministry to our Heavenly Father and to discern God’s will for our ministry in the upcoming year. The year 2026 is crucial as we seek to understand the future direction of our ministry, including beyond 2026. We also encourage you to personalize the daily prayer guidelines for your ministry, yourself, and for other significant people in your life.

This 40-day prayer initiative will begin on Tuesday, January 20, and continue through Saturday, February 28, spanning six weeks. Participants are also encouraged to incorporate fasting into their routine during these 40 days or to set aside specific times for fasting throughout the initiative.

Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome to join! There is no need to register your participation, but we would appreciate it if you did. Throughout the 40 days, we will have a WhatsApp group where daily prayer requests will be posted. Each day will feature one prayer request, organized by themes. You can use the daily prayer guidelines during your quiet time or incorporate them into your small group’s weekly prayer meetings or other prayer events. If you prefer not to join the WhatsApp group, the complete guidelines are available in PDF format.

Guidelines:

Theme 1: Spiritual Renewal and Intimacy with God

Day 1 - Tuesday 20 January: Father, grant us fresh encounters with Your presence through prayer, so that we may hear Your voice clearly as we move into the year ahead. Renew our hearts and the hearts of every team member at GAP Ministries; draw us closer to You in deeper intimacy and obedience (Psalm 51:10).

Day 2 - Wednesday, 21 January: Eliminate any distractions, busyness, or spiritual dryness that obstruct our connection with You. Luke 10:41-42 — "Martha, Martha... you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Day 3 – Thursday, 22 January: Cultivate a spirit of ongoing repentance and humility within our ministry sphere and personal lives. Psalm 51:17 — "My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise."

Day 4 - Friday 23, January: Refresh us with Your Holy Spirit to empower every initiative. Ephesians 5:18 — "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."
