Be a Glimmer of Hope - Visit to Zimbabwe 24 September - 2 October 2010 (Saturday) Contact: Pierre van Wyk
Become a Glimmer of Hope - Visit to Zimbabwe
24 Sept to 2 Oct 2010
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,”plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” Jer 29:11
Background The current situation in Zimbabwe is well known. There has been positive signs that political factions are finding common ground but this has still to reflect in government policy. The economy is still on its knees with the current Zim Dollar as currency obsolete and only the Rand and US Dollar accepted. Food and fuel have become more readily available but the majority of people still cannot afford it. Poverty and unemployment is rife and the migration of people in and out of the county continuously has affected millions of Zimbabweans. Most of them stays in poor circumstances in neighboring countries. This has also affected the church and the growth of the church very negatively. Fortunately the church is for most Zimbabweans the one thing that they can relate to and that give them hope, but there are many many more that have given up hope completely.
Aim of the visit is to: Visit and encourage local believers
Visit community development projects
Gain information about the current situation in the country
Visit Morgenster Missions station
Distribution of evangelism material
Visit Matopos National Park and the Zim Ruins National Monument
Compile a prayer guide that can be used for praying for Zim by local churches and for future prayer journeys and outreaches.
